Assistant Operations Manager-Buckhannon, WV

The position will oversee day to day operations of an OTS assigned yard and be responsible for directing a fleet of DOT drivers in the mobilization of oilfield fluids.

Primary Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
  • Oversee driver groups to ensure that all deliveries are made in compliance with DOT regulations, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Promote, guide, and interact in all business relationships in a manner which will promote continuing improvement in our department’s quality performance.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate personnel in order to maintain a competent and committed workforce.
  • Manage costs within area of responsibility including review of cost sheets and follow up on issues, evaluation of cost reduction opportunities and participation in the annual budgeting process.
  • Monitor fleet inspections and maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and control operation parameters (i.e. customer delivery satisfaction, costs, manning and equipment utilization) to provide optimum service to your assigned area.
  • Work in cooperation with dispatch to ensure operational efficiency and driver scheduling.
  • Work closely with OTS and Chesapeake Safety in processing risk programs to determine and mitigate safety risks to employees, contractors, the public, and the environment and company assets. Elements of the programs include participation in process hazards reviews, incident investigations, management of change, and mechanical integrity programs. Ensure process information is current, accurate and provides employees with information on process chemicals (MSDSs), technology, equipment, PPE, and operating procedures. Trains employees on aforementioned programs, information and procedures.
  • Report all accidents and injuries immediately.  Work with OTS Safety to initiate root cause and develop strategies to prevent repeat incidents.
  • Manage and approve mileage/time for drivers.
  • Must be available for call-outs (evenings/nights, weekends and holidays).  Could include out of town assignments that require overnight stays.
  • Travel may be required for (but not limited to) meetings, training, seminars, etc – may be overnight, days, week, etc.
  • All duties are to be performed in accordance with OTS Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.
  • Must be available for call-outs (evenings/nights, weekends and holidays).  Could include out of town assignments that require overnight stays
  • Travel may be required for (but not limited to) meetings, training, seminars, etc – may be overnight, days, week, etc.
  • Employee must be willing to work overtime as needed/required.
  • All duties are to be performed in accordance with OTS Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.

  • Providing information to management, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts.
  • Demonstrate basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to learn company specific applications.
  • Strong understanding of key safety procedures (Lock/Tag/Try, Line Break, Hot Work, Fall Protection, Confined Space) and environmental requirements.
