SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL/ECOLOGICAL SCIENTIST (Oil & Gas)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct field analysis, collect soil and water samples, interpret and research environmental information, draft technical reports, plans and permits to provide clients with an environmentally sound, government agency approvable, and economically feasible location site for oil and gas industry well pads, access roads, production facilities, and pipelines. This position will have accountability in assuring locations support survey and engineering design.

  • Proficiently prepares and/or oversees the development of environmental plans and permits which include, but are not limited to, Forest Stand Delineation and Conservation Plans, Mitigation Plans, Wetland Delineation and Permitting, Environmental Site Assessments, (see below under Experience Requirements for more details).
  • Ensure projects are cost effective and meet the client’s specifications; field site work, plans and permits are completed in accordance with all HSE and company policies, applicable codes, recommended practices, local, state and federal requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communications and team skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize; Attention to detail.
  • Attend industry and regulatory agency conferences/workshops.
  • Available and comfortable with working long hours in the field on an as needed basis in potentially rugged conditions, ensure field observations are documented and aware of permit conditions.

  • Coordinate site selection of oil and gas drilling well pads, lease roads, production facilities, and pipelines in conjunction with survey and engineering data
  • Document, draft and complete all aspects of plans, reports and permits related to site specific environmental conditions as required by the client and to meet regulatory agency approvals
  • Excel at working with oil & gas clients, government agencies, project management, and meeting critical timelines
  • Ability to work in the field or in the office drafting technical/scientific reports and handling project management

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in Environmental Science is preferred or a related science discipline. Minimum 7-10 years industry related experience. Experience working in the state of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and/or West Virginia is required.

  • Proven skills in providing environmental desktop reviews and writing feasibility studies
  • Extensive experience in managing projects, completing Wetland Delineations and Permitting, Collecting soil and water samples, Environmental Site Assessments, Mitigation Plans, Wetland Restorations, Forest Delineation and Conservation Plans, Threatened and Endangered species determinations, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Landscape Architecture, and permits for wetland encroachments and stream crossings
  • Have strong contacts within the regulatory agencies
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working in ArcMap and using GPS;  Competence in MS office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint  and Project; Possess excellent analytical skills and technical writing skills
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including human relations and communication skills (written and verbal), the ability to integrate multi-discipline project activities, working knowledge of local work practices
