The Eastern Oil & Gas Conference and Trade Show is the oldest event of its kind in the eastern U.S., organized by the oil and gas exploration and production industry for the E&P industry. We cater not only to those working the region’s shale plays – particularly the Marcellus and Utica – but also to the conventional producers who have been the backbone of our industry for more than 150 years. Our event is located conveniently for those in the industry in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New York, Virginia and Kentucky.

This year’s big news is the move to Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the shift from late August to May 13-14. Opened in 2001, the 65,000-seat football icon is beautifully situated on Pittsburgh’s North Shore and is conveniently located to the city’s many attractions. It’s also a great place for an event such as the Eastern Oil & Gas Conference and Trade Show.

governor-corbettWe also have an excellent conference agenda lined up, with Governor Tom Corbett (pictured at right) kicking off the program. The conference theme is “First and Goal—Scoring Energy Independence,” and topics range from gas-electric coordination to the latest on pending changes to Pennsylvania oil and gas regulations.

You might think that an NFL stadium is an odd place to have an event like this – but you would be wrong. Most of our exhibit space is located in the East and West Club Lounge areas, each approximately 45,000 square feet and boasting three-story-high windows that look out over the picturesque downtown Pittsburgh skyline, Mount Washington and the Ohio River. Additional exhibit space is found along the Promenade area connecting the East and West Clubs. See the accompanying information about reserving exhibit space.

Heinz Field is beautifully situated on Pittsburgh’s North Shore and is convenient to a host of fun and interesting attractions.

Conference agenda

The program kicks off Tuesday morning with opening remarks by PIOGA President & Executive Director Lou D’Amico, followed by Governor Corbett. This is the first time the governor has addressed a PIOGA gathering, and we are honored to have him as part of our program.

Tuesday also will include an update on Act 13 in the wake of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s far-reaching decision; a discussion of the pending revisions to Chapter 78 oil and gas regulations with industry leaders and Department of Environmental Protection oil and gas chief Scott Perry; updates on state and federal government issues; a presentation on weather, climate and energy by Ria Persad of StatWeather, Inc., an innovative company providing weather prediction systems for the risk management industry; and more.

Tuesday evening there will be a political action committee reception, followed by a Welcome Reception for conferees and registered exhibit staff in Heinz Field’s FedEx Great Hall. The Great Hall is another of Heinz Field’s unique spaces, showcasing the storied history of the Steelers and providing an unparalleled networking opportunity. On hand for the reception will be Tunch Ilkin, who played offensive tackle for the Steelers from 1980 to 1992, made two Pro Bowl appearances and is now a well-known sports commentator in Pittsburgh.

Wednesday’s half-day program will focus on ethane capture as well as the evolving relationship between natural gas and the electric generation industry, with representatives from all segments addressing the issues.
