Registration open for PIOGA confined space awareness trainingPosted: April 21, 2017 8:15 am
PIOGA’s Safety Committee is pleased to host Confined Space Awareness Training on May 11 in conjunction with our partners Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (venue, breakfast and lunch sponsor), Butler County Area Vocational School, Amec Foster Wheeler, The Reschini Group, and Wilkes University. The training will take place at the offices of Civil & Environmental Consultants in Pittsburgh.
Many workplaces contain spaces that are considered “confined” because their configurations hinder the activities of employees who must enter, work in, and exit them. A confined space has limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and it is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. This awareness level training will touch on the following OSHA standards (1910.146).
The three-hour class will cover the following topics:
- Definition of confined spaces
- Hazards of confined spaces
- Training for entrants, attendants & supervisors
- Permit-required confined spaces
- Emergency rescue
Typical confined space equipment stations will be set up with live demos on how to set up, use, calibrate, etc., equipment used during a typical confined space entry.
